Upift Turns 1
Uplift turns one today. What a ride it’s been. We’ve learned, grown, and stayed true to our mission—creating a safe space for people to connect and support each other anonymously.
From our first radio interview to national recognition, this year has been packed with milestones that remind us why we started in the first place. Here’s a quick look back.
1. Radio Interview with Freedom 106.5
Our Co-Founder and CEO, Ishmael Moreno, joined Freedom 106.5 to talk about how Uplift came to life and what drives its design. It was a big moment for us. Sharing our story on air helped more people discover Uplift and what we’re trying to build.
2. Mini-Symposium on Student Mental Health
Our Co-Founder and COO Shanice Dick, spoke at COSTAATT’s mini-symposium on student mental health. The event focused on finding new ways to support students and open up conversations about mental health. Shanice gave a live demo of the app, showing how Uplift can make a difference for students who want a safe, judgment-free space to talk.
3. COSTAATT Graduate Recruitment Fair
On July 13, 2023, our team joined the Graduate Recruitment Fair hosted by COSTAATT’s Division of Student Affairs. We met students stepping into the professional world and showed how Uplift helps them manage stress, find balance, and connect with peers going through similar experiences.
4. National Youth Awards 2023
This was a huge one. Our CEO, Ishmael Moreno, received the Youth of the Year award and the Health and Wellness category win at the National Youth Awards on September 21, 2023. It was a proud moment for our entire team. The recognition reminded us that what we’re building matters and that people are starting to notice.
5. Our Commitment to Continuous Improvement
We’re just getting started. Every bit of feedback, every story shared, and every connection made pushes us to keep improving.
We’re working on updates to make the app smoother, add more useful features, and strengthen our community even more. There’s plenty to look forward to in year two.
